Cars and Transport

Transport to the wedding ceremony is traditionally arranged for the Bride and Groom, Father and Mother of the Bride, Best Man and the Bridesmaids. 

In some civil weddings, certain individuals (often the Groom and Best Man) may be staying overnight at the wedding venue and thus good old shanks' pony will suffice for them! Should this not be the case, then you will need to arrange at least one but, more than likely, two or three wedding cars to transport the wedding party around.
 
 
Who Leaves in Which Wedding Car and in What Order?

The typical make-up of the journeys to the wedding ceremony will be as follows:

• The Groom and Best Man leave in a wedding car together, usually from the Groom's home, and arrive at the wedding ceremony venue first.
• The Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride leave together in a wedding car, usually from the Bride's parents home, and arrive at the wedding ceremony venue shortly after the Groom and Best Man. The Bridesmaids will wait outside for the arrival of the Bride whilst the Mother of the Bride is escorted to her seat by one of the Ushers (who are expected to make their own way to the wedding ceremony).
• The Bride and Father of the Bride leave together in a wedding car, usually from the Brides parent's home and arrive at the wedding ceremony last of all. Normally they will arrive just a few moments after the Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride, but if wedding cars are being shared (or the Bride wants to keep the Groom on his toes!) there could be a small gap.

What Wedding Cars/Wedding Transport Can be Used?

The mode of transport for each of the three journeys set out above is entirely down to you to decide. Whether it's a vintage wedding car, horse and carriage, wedding limo or something unconventional, much will depend upon personal preference, journey length and available budget.
 
To help save some cash, it is possible for wedding cars to double up their duties and perform more than one journey. However, if the wedding reception is to be held in a different location to the wedding ceremony then the vehicles will need to be shared once more, or alternative transportation will need to be arranged.
 
Whatever your current thoughts are regarding the wedding cars, it is important to think about them in a wider context than just a vehicle to get you and your wedding party to the wedding ceremony.
